It was a great place to work. There was lots of change but all for good reasons and to be fiscally responsible. I would return. They do offer low pay but the heart is all there.

It's a high pressure environment and depends on your unit whether you have good camaraderie and collaboration or cut-throat competition. The work is rewarding. The combination of military style top down leadership in disaster response and corporate consolidation philosophy from the senior leadership team can make a discouraging environment. If you remember that your boss is actually all the communities you serve, you'll do well.
