Deloitte was a great place to learn and be mentored. It was less suited for folks who were mid-career because of the steep learning curve, somewhat inclusive promotion culture and industry average pay.

If you start deloitte getting paid well, you will get paid well through your career, but if you start a low salary, no matter how good you are you will take forever to make the same as a mediocre employee who happens to be from a top ranked school. Also, Deloitte salary ranges are pretty much the same no matter where you live, so if you live in a high cost of living location you will be making less than someone that lives in a lower cost of living area since there is no cost of living adjustment.

While Deloitte speaks of a good culture, it really depends on the office you are in. Some offices have a very good culture, wile others are pretty horrible. Overall though, as this is a partnership, where people are trying to become business owners eventually, the culture tends to be pretty ruthless and scheming. There is a lot of backstabbing and people bragging or always trying to "one up" each other. At a local level there is very little time spent growing and mentoring junior resources, as they are just fodder to be burnt out in 60 to 70 hrs per week roles.
