Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Old fraternity culture exists. Younger or more productive employees get frustrated while management and HR would rather defend members at the expense of those that are not.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
There is too much dead weight within the company. Streamlining would benefit productive employees. Human Resources could do a much better job assisting current employees rather than finding ways to punish them if problems persist with supervisors and managers
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The fear-based management style is something I'd change.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Culture was a fear based performance management, top down decisions, extremely low morale, lack of trust, do as I say not as I do, punishing, and no reward for performance.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
You cannot trust management.
Employee - Director
They knew what needed to be done, and let managers lead.
Employee - Director
Culture was collaborative. Every company has its exceptions, but frequently Senior Management and bosses were accessible. No complaints
Employee - Director
It was a good place to work.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Would describe the culture like an old boy's club.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Wish there had been a development/mentoring program.
Employee - Director
The culture needs adjustments. They don't remove bad/ineffective leaders. They simply re-org them
Employee - Director
DoD centric. Not a bad thing, but they tried to apply it to all customer markets which cause a lot of problems, including handling of classified information. There were multiple serious security infractions in their facilities and only action form the management from a fraction of those reported.
Employee - Director
There are brilliant leaders, but there are also exceptionally bad leaders who act without ethics or regard to others. I was ashamed, as a women, see how my female management at the SVP and Director levels behaved. Abusive and disrespectful to others, but the opposite to upper management.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Provides good benefits and work/life balance.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
Would recommend GD to making changes to promote the right people, listen to your engineers, and fire people who dont do their work.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
Old school mentality. Only promoted men..unless the woman dated management
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Culture was more on the conservative side.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Option to telecommute is something I wish they offered.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
There is not enough internal communication. Also, promotions given based on who you know vs who is deserving.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
General Dynamics in California is not for anyone looking for a future.
