Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Good firm. At times moves too slowly for the market. Difficult to fully leverage all resources IBM has to offer in an integrated strategic manner. Size is a benefit, but can also inhibit rapid response to market changes and introduction of innovative solutions.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Broad skills covering large portfolio of industries and technologies.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Well known and positive reputation in most cases.

Employee - Analyst

Strong culture that is flexible and vaules the quality of worklife.

Employee - Analyst

It's one of the Market leaders in term of service industry.

Employee - Manager

Be careful about the asking salary. Many U.S. employees are being replaced with Global Resources.

Employee - Manager

It is great except that there are some poor managers and managers are allowed to make their own rules on employee off time, etc. So, it is not consistent.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Very professional, lots of opportunity to learn many things. They laid off 8000 out of 468,000, so a small percentage and still paid a good severance package. Big Blue has still lot of old fashioned goodness.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Doing their best to stick to sound legal and ethical business practices. IBM is a good example of an entity that will not go down due to a scandal.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Negotiate the best base salary. Benefits/bonus etc. are constants that won't change.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Not the best culture, may be after 5-8 years you may get used to it. Too many people it is 468,000 worldwide, too much of cut throat competition. Most employees don't care about peers or people reporting to them. Huge talent among the employees is available when comes to problem solving for clients and the potential is not tapped very well.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Extremely good reputation. Most clients want to hire IBM if they have the budget. The 1970's saying "No one was fired for buying IBM Mainframes" still holds good, just change " mainframes" to "consulting services".

Employee - Manager

Company offer an outstanding environment to learn.

Employee - Manager

The challenge to match former PWC culture with IBM culture in example building close at 7:00 pm to save energy and provide employees quality of life it creates an obstacle to those that were familiar to work late evening they suffer to figured out how fit they work agenda with this restriction.

Employee - Manager

Challenge Brazil market does not feel very confident which approach that combines technology plus strategy some potential customers feel uncomfortable they have a mindset that IBM is a technology company that will recommend IBM products and services and avoid competitors products and services also is difficult explain for non IT executives hire strategy services from IBM that has huge reputation of IT company not strategy service provider they need explain that IBM acquired this business

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

IBM has incredible resources. In many ways, if you can dream it, you can do it (so long as you have a good business case. IBM is also in the process of reinventing itself. Not just in terms of its focus on cognitive and analytics, but culturally. There is a lot of new blood at the leadership levels, and that makes it a refreshing, dynamic work environment.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

IBM is enormous and highly process driven. But within GBS, there is an extremely collaborative and non-hierarchical culture. You get things done via influence, not authority. Everyone has a voice, regardless of seniority, and you are encouraged to reach out to senior leaders, as needed. All of this makes your personal communication and leadership style very important.

Employee - Principal/VP/Director

Given that I work in big data and analytics, I think IBM's reputation is quite strong.

Employee - Manager

As per technology strategy is concerned IBM GBS is one of the pioneer in innovation and cutting edge transformation. The biggest Fortune 500 clients trust IBM to lay out their technology road map.The products like IBM Watson, cognitive business solutions are Industry leading one and only offering you can get. Being in IBM you are always in the forefront of Innovation and always ahead of the curve.

Employee - Manager

The reason IBM GBS is struggling is because of senior and old leadership team's lack of understanding of the changing technology landscape and ability to drive the changes till the ground level. They keep on designing new strategies with help of their advisers but unable to drive the cultural changes across the organization. IBM has the best ammunition of technological tools and world's best brains but the 80's leadership team are a total out of place match to lead this transformation knowing it is very difficult to turn around an organization of this size. The challenge for IBM GBS is not from its competitors but lies inside how they can become more nimble and agile to respond to market space demands and that require fresh thinking and cultural outlook.
