Employee - Principal/VP/Director
Favoritism is the best way to describe compensation. While the plan is defined, it is open to interpretation and often the senior management changes it on the fly up or down based on who is liked and who is not...

It is an old boys club. You are either in or out, if you are in, you will go places, if you are out, you will get the dregs. The culture is one of back stabbing and mistrust. Total lack of respect for fellow employees was the norm and encouraged. Those who were sick, had family issues or even a death in the family were considered weak if they did not show up for work and were then criticized when they returned. Clients are considered to lack any intelligence and are desperate for help which only KPMG can provide. What the customer says about their own business does not matter, because KPMG are the experts. If only the client would get out of the way so we could do our work without their interference.

KPMG is known as many things to different people so sometimes you have to really be able to explain your niche of the firm. Stronger reputation in some areas then others.
