Employee - Director

The employee stack ranking system which requires good employees to be given poor evaluations if all the employees in the group are good.

Employee - Director

Is a company that hires A level employees but pits them against each other and treats them as C level.

Employee - Director

Depends on the group but mine was focused on ensuring that managers were trained and were continuing to become better managers. A lot of team-building activities, competitive people but not dog-eat-dog, teamwork is highly valued. Professional, constant change, reorganize are common which is God since this industry changes so much. Good mix of ages/experience levels within the groups.

Employee - Director

Wish there was less admin work.

Employee - Director

Microsof is very product oriented, mastery of the subject is required. They are also trying to be more client centric.

Employee - Director

The culture is a bit political - WHO you know matters more than WHAT you know.

Employee - Analyst / Associate

Encourages everyone to be open and have a respectful attitude.

Employee - Analyst / Associate

Technology of MS changes the way people work and live.

Employee - Analyst / Associate

My suggested changes would be to the vendor program and how the company differentiates between full-time employees and the rest.

Employee - Analyst / Associate

Many internal meetings, but fairly open, depends on who your manager is. Great package so people are apparently positive, collaboration could be better - suffers from target setting that sets up competition and closses collaboration.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Great place to work at with some space for the internal processes improvements.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Tribal culture. Various groups built themselves into "fortreses" so they can survive the daily animosities.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

When people have common values and they match company's values then corporate culture is great.

Employee - Director

Would change the way Microsoft manages career plans, employee potential. I believe there are many great assets within the company but HR has done a poor job helping people develop their careers.

Employee - Director

Very respectful work environment. I have seen how people with harsh behaviors have had to change or had to leave the company. On the other hand you have to learn to read the "bad news" which can be delivered so gently that you might not think you are in trouble.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

I would likely not work there again, but it is a good place to work on some interesting things and then leave.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Corporations in general and Microsoft in specific do not "care" about employees. The company has no loyalty or investment in you that cannot be replaced so make sure you treat it as a short term contract with specific goals .. and leave when you meet them. It can be a great place to work, but only if you know why you are there and choose your managers and teams according to your own goals.

Employee - Analyst / Associate

More colloboration should be encouraged here.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Needs to invest in some legal, privacy, security folks with a different (more startup-like) risk profile, to support the faster-paced orgs in the company. Also, needs to improve internal tools (don't waste employee time).

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Filled with very interesting people from a wide variety of backgrounds, extraordinarily smart and driven. Perhaps competitive to a fault, through trying hard to be collaborative.
