Wish I could change how the firm is too organised and mechanical

It's a great place to work, with fantastic work life balance. Nomura are very sure they want to compete in specific markets and products. They don't bend over backwards trying to accommodate clients simply because someone asked them something. They are very sure they want to compete where they have a significant advantage.

Since the Lehman acquisition, everyone knows Nomura. It has a great reputation in the market, and is recognized as a competitive and well paying firm to work for. These qualities extend themselves to your resume and help you when you are looking for the next role.
Employee - Associate
Collaborative, emphasis on learning, lots of training and mentoring, people development, emphasis on cross border hence very international, lots of opportunities to rotate roles within the firm
Employee - Vice President
There is definitely a disconnect in the culture aspect of the bank. American divisions need to be much more cognizant of Japanese customs and business protocols.
Employee - Vice President
Best to know working here is what you make of it. There will be no training, no mentorship and no coddling of people. Its your business to know your business, and they are no there to train you to do your job.
Employee - Vice President
The people in my division made it a great place to be, not necessarily the firm. The firm in general jumps in and out of markets that it doesn't know well, and once it hits its loss threshold, they exit.
Employee - Vice President
Large entity, sometimes processes may become too slow and bureaucratic
Employee - Vice President
Business oriented but with a very conservative approach, client is important but integrity and conduct go first
Employee - Associate
I would recommend Nomura to a friend based on what sort of experience he/she is looking for. Nomura hours/lifestyle may be better than others but the training and deal flow are lacking. It is not the best place to get entry level experience as a junior banker.
Employee - Associate
It is a large bank on a global scale but still relatively small in the US, which presents growth opportunity.
Employee - Associate
I don't have much to compare Nomura to but the culture isn't bad. People are kind and courteous for the most part. I don't like that the culture is a little lazy; people are not wanting to work as hard as bulge bracket banks or some well-known boutiques.

Would suggest a change to the company by hiring more Americans
Employee - Vice President
Learn how to speak Japanese
Employee - Vice President
Very respectful and classy work environment.

I would recommend this company but it needs stability
