Intellectually sharp. Impressive credentials. Wealth of strategy consulting knowledge

We are no longer a premium strategy firm since PwC bought us and many great people who were the foundation of our firm have since left.

Senior leadership lacks true leadership qualities that inspire those around them. The senior leadership and partners place their self-interest first.

Compensation and benefits are very high. It is the high compensation that is a huge factor that keeps legacy Booz people in the firm versus it being a great place to work.
Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant
Firm is currently working out a few integration kinks but promises to be a great place to work. Intends to combine legacy Booz strategy prowess with the execution capabilities and global reach of PwC.

Strategy& (legacy Booz&Co) has lost its culture.

Watered Down - we had a great brand and practice that has deteriorated when PwC double the size of the practice/firm over night by taking unqualified people from their advisory practice and making them Strategy&.

Need to have personal connection in top management

Ok, more due to PwC image

High priced strategy firm. May not be worth the billing rates.

Horrific Work-Life Balance due to 4-5 days away from home office.

People knew Booz Allen Hamilton, then some heard that there was something called Booz & Company, but no one knows Strategy&. Giving up independence to be diluted in PwC was a bad strategic move (how ironic for a strategy consultancy...)

Partners do not really care about developing talent. They are more focused on their meeting their sales targets and their compensation to actually listen. They do attract great talent because of their name brand. Co-workers are smart, energetic, team oriented, and have great leadership skills.

Like I have mentioned a couple times before, the firm's reputation definitely lags its actual performance and the calibre of its associates.

It's the accessibility of the partners. Although they command respect because of their experience and expertise, they are so warm and down to earth. It really feels like one big family, and when we all get together, it really feels like home to me. Because of the friendly people, interesting work, and the flexibility that the firm offers when you need it (they have been accomodating of having me living in a different city than the office that I am affiliated with since the very beginning, although I did intern with them in the summer before I started full time), it is so easy for me to get so excited about the firm when I talk about it.

The local (office-level) leadership team comprises very intelligent people who work very hard and care just as deeply about the whole office team as well as the clients they serve. They are so down-to-earth - everybody in the Chicago office knows about one of the most senior partner's karaoke skills, for example. Beyond that, we are "governed" by PwC partners who believe very strongly in the successful integration of Booz into the firm. They have invested so much into this acquisition and doing everything they can do to make this successful. It seems that at times, however, they are oblivious to the real concerns of associates all the way to partners at Strategy&. I think there can definitely be more outreach by them to see what they can do to really make this acquisition a success.

Everybody says that their firms are full of friendly and intelligent people, but I have never met any group of consultants like those at the firm who solve such complex problems and that are so genuinely down to earth. As for the work, I have many friends at many consulting firms that don't have the kind of engagements that I have - including my friends at MBB. People at firms like to talk about the most interesting work they do, but it represents a small percentage of their actual engagements. The interesting work that we talk about at Strategy&, however, truly is a good representation of the kind of work that we do. With the PwC acquisition, the firm has never had such access to resources in the 5 years as a standalone. The marketing budget, for example, is about 30x what it used to be at Booz & Company. The rankings at Vault are low this year because of the pains of integration this past year. And although some partners had to leave because of conflicting tax clients at PwC, cascading down the chain to some extent (imagine building your 5-year career with a partner at the firm who just left), the actual turnover is probably less than what most people outside the firm might think it is - just slightly more than the normal attrition rate. Overall, I think the firm's rankings are simply lagging its actual performance. With PwC's resources (both monetary as well as social capital), I think Strategy& has the potential to become "MBBS".
