Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

The leadership was made up of immature managers with degrees but very little experience. They could not make decisions because they did not want to be held accountable. I sat in far too many meetings with dozens of managers day after day, week after week as they tried to find someone to take responsibility to make decisions. often it caused major delays or poor decisions to be made. The immaturity and inexperience hurt the company on many fronts which was seen in the huge failures of both Target Canada and the Security debacle. Though those were very visible failures, many others occurred daily without the public knowing about them.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

The lack of leadership, the backstabbing by the immature managers, the failure to take ownership all played a hand in many company failures. The executives were extremely disconnected from what was really going on. The childish games that were played were unprofessional and disgraceful. The high turnover should be a signal to executives how bad things are but they don't pay any attention to the failures of their management team.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Too political of an organization, uses secret feedback channels similar to that of Amazon to hurt perceived competition within the ranks. It is also a stack-ranked organization, so it naturally breeds competition to sabotage others.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

No less than 55 hour work week and use part time employees rather than hire full time. Not a good work environment for team members.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

The culture is built on military style, who ever developed the culture had a military background. Strong documentation but they have individuals in higher ranks who do absolutely nothing but go from store to store point out mistakes or what needs to be been done..they do a walk around the store kind of like the President has just arrived and now we are going to look for things that need to be done. Hold the store manager accountable..if we are using part time, I could care less, employees than you get what you pay for, if you are going to use employees who have no respect for team leaders than you get what you pay for...definitely have some Regional (lack of leadership) issues in Tampa.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

This company is about work and not about how to be more efficient. Store Manager have last word, you have a conversation with someone Store Manager above the manager you best be looking for a new job. Very VERY structured...Regionals are treated as "above all" I talk to you, I tell you, but please don't tell me how we can do things..we know this business you don't.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

The mgmt team at the facility I worked with were not well skilled in people management and did not seem to possess the various tools needed to manage multiple individuals who require different styles (they were one size fits all)

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Very stuffy work culture. If you were not a member of the mgmt team, you were excluded from conversations and decisions.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Too much gossip in the warehouse around Group Leaders. Engagement and feedback is important but they put too much onus and what associates say.

Employee - Director

it is a company discriminating against older people and not open to different perspectives. Definitely not a good place for Latinos

Employee - Director

They push peer feedback to compensate for poor supervisor leadership. HR has its own agenda and too much power (the level of power that corrupts)

Employee - Director

They have an internal saying that reflects them very well: "they hire you for your diversity but promote you for your conformity".

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Good pay and benefits but limited room for growth except in exceptional instances and company culture is hard to navigate.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Fear based and focused on what isn't working rather than what is and moving forward. Very risk adverse.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

If you fit in and find a position that is stable with good leadership you'll love it.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

I advanced very quickly, but I had obviously didn't drink the koolaid. Favoritism was a huge issue with Monica Lorenze the DM.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

Was always on edge, felt like termination was always around the corner.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

It will teach you how not to act at other companies.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

(This is for Corporate HQ positions.) The new economy of digital / data and Social have been pushing out big box stores. Thus, over the past three years Target has had a tough go of it. Many lay-offs have happaned and they work their people had with little to no " thank you'd." Which can go along way. If you are fresh out of school and want to Kearny buying or analytics then you are fine. If you are heading into Managment understand that there will always be a revolving door.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

It was great at one time. The shift has occurred and now listening, flexibility and not always having to be #1 Target can learn from. Poor choices of not being a digital native nor partnering with Amazon years ago has hurt Target. Also, the senior people whom helped build this incredible company have been removed and replaced. Value comes in many forms and Target's value is on the youth. Unfortunately they have made costly mistakes and continue to do so. Target will never be what it was. How will they get their edge again????? If you as an executive can come onboard and know how to do this then every retailer would want your secret sauce.
