Employee - Managing Director

The culture and the lack of a business plan. The plan changes every week leading to constant uncertainty and inconsistency. It's tough to buy in when you don't know what you're buying in to.

Employee - Managing Director

Whatever management trend is on the way out of being in vogue, UBS is grabbing it with both arms.

Employee - Managing Director

A unique combination of constipated Swiss top leadership with management on the American side that embodied everything that went wrong at Merrill Lynch at the end.

Employee - Managing Director

Risk management culture is terrible

Employee - Analyst

Don't screw up here. Don't expect an amazing place to work or to be stimulated. Just be consistent and detailed and don't devote your life to it expecting miracles in return.

Employee - Analyst

Less bureaucracy. Less fear. UBS is a good place to work with clever people, but too much energy goes to maintaining the status quo because everyone is too scared of getting fired.

Employee - Senior Vice President

When working in the US offices, it's best understanding the Swiss culture to find success here.

typical investment bank. depending upon department, will deal with Type A aggressive personalities in trading, investment banking, etc.

Employee - Associate

In these types of firms which area you work in and who you work with and for is more important in determining your experience than the overall firm. They generally allow managers of departments to operate per their own control and treat the employees in their department how they like.

Employee - Associate

Management in Switzerland lacks the discipline and commitment to stay in a business when it has experienced market difficulty. Their timing was often wrong in terms of when they got out of a business and then got back in to it.

Employee - Managing Director

The culture is "work hard, party hard". A high performer won't be the one that only garners the big deal, but also the one with party animal spirit.

Employee - Managing Director

Be a high performer and have strong work ethics while working here, which sometimes includes making personal sacrifices, time-wise.

Employee - Managing Director

The culture of "work hard, party hard" needs to be adjusted. It should be more of work and life balance as there is something to life than a stock market.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Very open, collaborative environment, Not a silo!. Got to work with different divisions around the country and around the world. Focused on Best Practices.

Employee - Senior Vice President

You'll be able to learn from some of the smartest financial people on the planet and able to contribute and hone your skill set.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Too many reporting lines. Needs less "middlemen"

Employee - Senior Vice President

Yes, UBS in the US is struggling culturally.

Employee - Senior Vice President

UBS in APAC and EMEA is a top tier, often product and/or market leading franchise with strong individuals and management in place. However, UBS in the US is at best a mid-tier, lagging franchise. Its new management has strong views which may work but the older middle and upper management are so focused on justifying their roles and lacklustre existence that the culture and atmosphere is confused at best.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Combination of new assertive management view and average quality existing management led to a highly political and self-serving cultural environment.

Employee - Vice President

Working at UBS you should watch your back, remember no one is your friend.
