It was such a great experience to work for them.

Strong accountability. No slackers. Smart colleagues. Engaging work and clients.

Driven by market returns. Losing touch with culture that built success.

Compensation is closely tied to measures of performance. Billable hours drive your compensation mostly. Team leads play a strong role in allocation of project budget dollars; staying within budgeted hours while delivering high quality product is a key to personal success.
Employee - Associate/Consultant
Collaborative, if you earn your way into good teams. Academic. Competitive. Sometimes they eat their own without realizing what they've done.

The company still relies on the reputation of predecessor firms it swallowed up decades ago (e.g., Tillinghast). It has a strong reputation more in employee benefits but has tremendous strengths in other smaller areas which are being squeezed out or playing second fiddle. Very strong analytics!
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
TW offers opportunities for associates to specialize in deep technical areas or to broaden in their technical skills into other practice areas, specific industries, geographies, or client relationship areas. Client work is challenging but rewarding as the teams are talented, collegial and client focused.
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
The senior leadership communicates the vision and strategy and revisits it regularly to highlight what we have achieved and what we have ahead of us in achieving the strategy. They also clarify the role of associates in achieving the strategy.

Performance driven, but may not be as aligned to market as it could be.

Impressive associates willing to go above and beyond for their clients
Employee - Associate/Consultant
TW respects its employees and overall is fair to them. Management speaks openly with employees. Overall, a fairly laid-back atmosphere. Not a stressful or political environment.
Employee - Associate/Consultant
My business development position has a strong base and sales-based bonus. However, bonuses are based on multiple layers meeting their goals. Bonuses are percentage of percentage of percentage of percentage.
Employee - Associate/Consultant
Very politically correct. Diversity and inclusion are part of everyone's performance goals.
Employee - Associate/Consultant
Market leading. Thought leadership in HR sector. Lumbering giant.
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
In specific lines of service they are considered the best and smartest.
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
A culture that strives to practice what they preach to clients. Best practice

I'm not sure about Tower Watson in the US, but their leadership team was very out of touch with the daily operations at some of its global offices.
Employee - Manager
Towers Watson has a very somber culture. People come in and work hard and quietly throughout the day and then go home. They rarely speak to each other, there is very little celebration of a job well-done, and no one seems to go out of their way to meet other employees. It feels very much like a job, rather than a meaningful and fulfilling part of your, which given the significant portion of your life that work is, it should be.
