TW's maternity policy is horrendous. They are not at all supportive of team members having children and offer the least leave possible.

From what I can tell - there is no culture. People just attempt to get in and get out as quickly as possible.

There exists a massive discrepancy between the lived & espoused cultures that only causes even more stress for employees.

Interested parties should make sure they do their research on average salaries for their desired position.

The best part of my job was being able to telecommute.

Managers "warned" employees about the effects of long hours, yet rewarded employees for working 35 hours nonstop and chastised those unwilling to do so.

The reputation of TW preceds them. They are well known for working employees inpossible hours and covering up the health issues their rmployees have suffered as a result. The "throw others under the bus to avoid responsibility" mentality among lower level supervisors is also well documented.

Management is iffy. There is little to no specific training. Once you are on a client there is no support and if you do ask for help you are made to feel like you cannot do you job.

They give free coffee and drinks which is a great perk. Most of the co-workers were great and easy to work with, but management is not consistent.
Employee - Analyst
They seem to have a good reputation as clients are happy with the service they receive.
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
Very smart people, always nice offices and great compensation.
Employee - Associate/Consultant
Market leading in several areas but overly conservative in others.
Employee - Manager
I was hired as a Manager and was supposed to have Associates available to support me and my client deliverables; be able to hire and train new Associates to build a leveraged model to allow more resources to generate more consulting revenue. Instead I was not supported with available staff; I had to meet sales goals by selling consulting services, meet all client expectations and deliverables, provide client relationship management, and demonstrate profitability. I met my goals however I had to consistently work 50 - 60+ hours per week without the support promised. Travel requirements were 50% - 70% as well.

Towers Watson's culture was one that praised rewarded its top 10% of senior partners and principals, however; if a Manager or Associate was struggling, they were typically allowed to "drown" rather than being provide the help needed. Leadership sent mixed messages and was very political.

Since Towers Perrin merged with Watson Wyatt; it has been difficult for years to create a cohesive environment and there still seems to be separate priorities that impact their culture.
