Driving Team Performance in a Virtual World

COVID has forced leaders across the world into a new realm of virtual existence and created a pivotal environment for most companies where stakes for team performance have never been higher. 

Watch our presentation with Santa Clara University professors Esther Sackett and Dennis Lanham, where we discussed how to manage team members in a completely virtual environment using the Five Dysfunction of a Team model authored by NYT bestselling author, Patrick Lencioni.

About Presenter:

Dennis Lanham is the Sr. Assistant Dean of Executive Education, and Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Executive Center at Santa Clara University. With more than 15 years of experience in business education, nonprofit and program management, Dennis has built numerous programs for businesses and working professionals across industries, in leadership development, corporate innovation and entrepreneurship, operations excellence, and many other business-critical areas. Before to moving to California, Dennis lead university-based executive education programs in the Nebraska and Georgia markets, as head of executive ed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and assistant director at Georgia State University. Prior to his career in executive education, Dennis worked in nonprofit administration as the director of member services for Phi Beta Sigma and spent several years in student affairs administration.

Esther Sackett is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Before that she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Dispute Resolution Research Center at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She received her PhD from the Fuqua School of Business, her MPA from the Wagner School of Public Service at NYU, and her BA in Anthropology from Ithaca College. Professor Sackett’s research focuses on the interpersonal dynamics of teamwork and motivation in a variety of organizational contexts including healthcare organizations, startups, and multinational corporations.
