Classes meet every other weekend on Friday and Saturday
10 Day international business trip. The CU Executive MBA integrates international business and global economic issues throughout the curriculum. All EMBA students participate in an international business trip that provides students with first-hand experience on how business is organized and managed outside of the U.S. During the trip, the class will visit a diverse set of companies, tour factory operations, and interact directly with senior managers at meetings arranged by the program. Students will also divide into smaller groups centered on specific topics that they choose to explore in more depth during the trip. These small groups will have the unique opportunity to arrange meetings with companies and organizations of interest.
Additionally, students within the program have 3 optional opportunities to travel during the program, expanding their global perspective while enriching their cultural awareness.

Lori E. Seward is a senior instructor of Operations Management in The Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering at Virginia Tech. After several years working as a reliability and quality engineer in the paper and automotive industries, she earned her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech and joined the faculty at the Leeds School in 1998.
She has been the coordinator of the undergraduate core business statistics course and currently teaches the core MBA statistics course. She is also responsible for coordinating the undergraduate program in Operations Management. She served as the chair of the INFORMS Teachers’ Workshop for the annual 2004 meeting.
Her teaching interests focus on developing pedagogy that uses technology to create a collaborative learning environment in both large undergraduate and MBA statistics courses. Seward is the author of a textbook titled Applied Statistics in Business and Economics, now in its fourth edition. She has published articles in journals ranging from The International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (2004) to the Journal of Statistics Education (2011).

Sharon Matusik is the Interim Dean and Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado.
Dr. Matusik’s research focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, knowledge assets and venture capital. For example, she has looked at topics such as how markets value innovation activities of firms, what accounts for variation in profitability levels of entrepreneurial firms, how the diversification of a venture capital firm affects its performance, the development of risk capital markets around the globe, and gains from innovation activities in emerging markets. Her work has been published in top international academic journals, and is widely cited in the management field.
Her teaching interests are in the area of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship and she has taught extensively at the MBA, undergraduate, Ph.D., and executive level. She also spent a semester as a Visiting Professor at Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) in Santiago, Chile; UDD is ranked number one in Entrepreneurship in Latin America. Each Spring, she takes a group of MBA students to an emerging economy, most recently to Cuba, to study the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in economic development.
Dr. Matusik has served in a variety of leadership roles such as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and Academic Director of the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School, and as a Board member for non-profit organizations such as MBA Women International (formerly Graduate Women in Business (GWIB)). She speaks regularly on topics related to innovation and entrepreneurship, and advises local entrepreneurial ventures. She is the 2014 recipient of the Leeds School’s William H. Baughn Distinguished Service award, and has also received awards for her research, teaching, and service to her profession.

Wayne F. Cascio is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Colorado, and he holds the Robert H. Reynolds Chair in Global Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver. He has served as president of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (1992-1993), Chair of the SHRM Foundation (2007), the HR Division of the Academy of Management (1984), and as a member of the Academy of Management’s Board of Governors (2003-2006). Currently he serves as an editor of the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).
He has authored or edited 28 books on human resource management, including Managing Human Resources (10th ed., 2016), Short Introduction to Strategic Human Resource Management (with John Boudreau, 2012), Investing in People (with John Boudreau, 2nd ed., 2011), and Applied Psychology in Human Resource Management (with Herman Aguinis, 8th ed., in preparation). He is a two-time winner of the best-paper award from the Academy of Management Executive for his research on downsizing.
In 2010 he received the Michael R. Losey Human Resources Research Award from the Society for Human Resource Management, in 2013 he received the Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and in 2016 the World Federation of People Management Associations awarded him its Lifetime Achievement Award. From 2011-2013 he served as Chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group that is developing international HR standards, and he represented the United States to the International Organization for Standards. Currently he serves as Chair of the SHRM Certification Commission. He is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, and the Australian HR Institute.
Dr. Cascio earned his B.A. degree from Holy Cross College, his M.A. degree from Emory University, and his Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Rochester.
