Dr. Todd Astor

As medical director of the Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Todd Astor provides and coordinates all transplant patient care, and oversees the clinical, educational, research, administrative, and financial operations of the program. Previously, Todd started and developed an innovative center for lung and heart-lung transplantation for congenital cardiopulmonary disease at the Nationwide Children's Hospital/Ohio State University Medical Center. As a physician scientist, he has developed innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to treating lung allograft rejection. He has also been a leader on national and international committees that establish regulatory policies governing the field of organ transplantation.

Why This Program?
"I had several short-term goals in coming to MIT's EMBA program. Those included: gaining a better understanding of finance, learning how to develop models to assess the economic value of transplant programs, and designing new programs for transplant-related healthcare for resource-poor communities in the U.S and around the world. In light of those goals, I was drawn to MIT's focus on analytics, data, and modeling. As for my longer-term goals, I want to forge new pathways at MIT in the biotechnology industry to ensure that our innovative therapies have a greater impact on the lives of our patients. I hope to eventually have the opportunity to start my own company around some of these innovative therapies, and therefore MIT's entrepreneurial environment was also very appealing."

Annely Guzman

Annely Guzman is co-founder of The SpringLeap Lab, a tech start-up in New York City focused on solving everyday consumer problems through digital solutions. With extensive P&L management experience in multi-billion dollar corporations as well as entrepreneurial settings, Annely has been leading marketing, product management, and business development teams driving growth initiatives. Previously, she spent 10 years with Singapore Telecommunications, the largest telco conglomerate in Southeast Asia, building portfolios out of emerging technologies.

Why This Program?
I wanted an MBA program with an in-depth, comprehensive curriculum that included finance, entrepreneurship, and operations. I was keen to focus on quantitative, data-driven, and scientific frameworks while harnessing the leadership, product management, and marketing skills that I have developed over the last 17 years. MIT's EMBA program meets those needs, and MIT has an unrivaled entrepreneurial ecosystem and mindset, which are important to me as a business-builder, whether in a start-up or in a corporate setting. Most importantly, I wanted an environment that was both challenging and collaborative. When you combine all of those with a cohort of diverse and highly experienced executives, MIT was the top choice for me.
