Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
I would only recommend working at Amazon as a resume builder, if you don't have a better option.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Employee churn is very high. Expect to have multiple managers, little direction and many tasks. Maximize your personal interactions and find a manager that you trust.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Management has little focus on onboarding and development. People struggle from Day One and many fail in the first year due to the lack of training and focus.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Important to know while working here - the culture and ability to learn and grow.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
A company culture that is very collaborative and open to new ideas.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Its a very intense environment with some of the smartest people in the world working on the bleeding edge of technology, but the culture is not for everyone.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Competition between organizations within the company created conflict and inefficiencies. Conflicting, shifting, or ambiguous corporate strategy. Very political.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Tough work enviornment, but the rewards way out weigh any of the difficulties. Growing very fast.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Culture is crazy. Like drinking from a firehose. But the perks are worth it.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
While I would recommend Amazon to friends, I would also caution that Amazon isn't right for everybody. It can be intense and a harsh working environment but it is such a wonderful learning experience that I would recommend it for the friends who can handle it.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
It is a company that hires top-notch talent, and then challenges itself to hire even more qualified talent. This ensures one is always surrounded by high-caliber, sharp people with brilliant minds, and while it can be challenging, it is also very inspiring, and breeds quality work.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The culture is very intense and competitive. It can be a harsh and unforgiving place, but it also forges strength, character and grace. Because of the nature of the competition, I feel there isn't bias against women, per se - everyone succeeds (or fails) on their own strength.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
Amazon needs employee benefits and perks in the office, having some would make it much easier to recruit skilled people.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
It's a big company that everyone can recognize, but it has better reputation among potential employers than among other employees.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
People who currently work here are passionate and focused on their work, it seems they like what they do. On the other hand, many don't last very long and move to a different company, even for the same kind of job - I guess for better pay or benefits.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The culture was empowering, impactful, and focused on making history.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
If given the chance to change anything, I'd suggest Amazon to be more human oriented
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Best to know that you can never be sure while working here.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Compensation model is a little difficult to grasp for a tech company - there is a maximum base salary cap regardless of level within the company with stock compensation making up the rest. Fairly flat organization and promotions can be difficult to achieve.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Embrace and embody the leadership principles
