Employee-centric, could move around and up, fun fridays - should reduce the dress code though.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
American Express is a pretty stable company and the leadership spends a considerable amount of time keeping the employees abreast of where it is going and how it intends to get there. The money is decent and the people are pretty down to earth. The employees generally love the company and strive to see that it succeeds. And your colleagues want you to succeed because when that happens, it's a win-win. American Express also has a nice rewards and recognition program.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
American Express is a professional environment but is relaxed enough to have a business casual dress code. The atmosphere is one of networking and getting to know what and who is serving in other roles. There are work-from-home opportunities, depending on your business unit. When you have a great leader, and there are some working for American Express, the sky's the limit for growth and promotion. Work/life balance is encouraged.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
The brand of American Express is to put the customer first and ensure that the employee is empowered to take care of the client. There are evaluation metrics in place that guide the employee and keeps the customer in mind.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Amex is everywhere. You can see the world on their dime and do interesting work. Plus they hire some of the smartest and most capable people from all over. Tough and demanding environment but if you were a major league ballplayer, wouldn't you want to play for the Yankees?
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Although it was a demanding work environment it was an open and honest place where you usually knew where you stood with your boss and your peers. In fact the CEO said all employees were entitled to know where they stood in the company. We had "engaging discussions" and an occasional food fight but when the meeting was over, we marched to the same tune. We got things done. I was fortunate to move to Singapore and cover the Pacific Rim for the company. What an experience.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
American Express was in my time a great place to from. It was a total growth experience both personally and professionally. I still have friends from there and as we look back we feel that we are better off in a number of ways for having worked there.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Strong brand, good HR track record, competitive wages, lots of opportunities because of the size of the company
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Strong orientation for customer service and innovation.
Employee - Director
It is a great place to work. There is a real care for the employee as a person, even if business is business, as in every other corporation. It has a very mature people performance process, good benefits, and a culture of quality and respect.
Employee - Director
It is a culture of quality, respect for people, focus on customers and employees, and mature structures and processes in these regards, compared to other companies of the same size, or industry. There are some politics, as in every corporation, but all in all it is a great place to work.
