Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
That's the power behind the name is only one surface deep.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Culture is no longer friendly and supportive. Hiring decisions are political, not meritocratic. This is only a good place to work if you are planning to have kids soon as they have a great mat leave policy.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Slc office has reduced in size to the point there are few positions available and no advancement possibilities in Slc or from slc
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Very stiff and regulated, not female friendly, especially older females, very much a young white male preference for opportunities and advancement.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Very Political, lot of nepotism, sometimes questionable ethics of leaders.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Very political, Lot of nepotism
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Good to have on the resume.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Too siloed and hierarchal. Staff grades and band levels is an obsession from top to bottom. Yes there are smart people but new ideas are not embraced as senior leaders who have clung onto their jobs for years seemed (when I was there anyway) resistant to change.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Team culture was lacking, day to day work was siloed and hierarchal. Culturally they need to seriously shift the evident top down structure to be fare more collaborative and far less "title" centric.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The company brand is a huge factor for onward job prospects. They do and will offer flexibility, but be prepared for the company to constantly tinker with roles, org charts, management and reporting lines.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Cronyism is rampant, image counts more than real accomplishments. Blatant racism and sexism is tolerated.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Tribal warfare with constant efforts to self promote while making others look bad.
Employee - Director
Economic uncertainly, leading to workplace chaos
Employee - Director
Bureaucratic with entrepreneurial aspirations.
Employee - Director
You have to self-drive your career path.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
While I was working at Amex between 1996-2003, the culture was of a big family where everyone knew everyone and all were always ready to help. Importantly, employees were passionate about the blue box branding.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Open, friendly culture. Felt like a big family.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Blue box values, integrity of the brand and leadership, and the training foundation it had instilled for me.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
The company is starting to see growth in revenues again, which is a good sign. When revenues are growing, American Express is a fun company to work for.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
When I was there, it was a highly collaborative environment, driven by matrixed reporting structures.
