Too much time is waste on useless things that add very little value.

Employee - Associate

Culture is very collaborative among colleagues of the same level.

Company is demanding

Employee - Associate

Demanding culture

Employee - Senior Vice President

Employees should be treated as assets rather than liabilities. Homogenized culture and values. Develop true business strategy to compete in a challenging environment, be creative in developing data intensive non traditional businesses (and business models) and disengage in tactical measured aimed at meeting expense reductions that hurt the brand and business long term.

Having worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch is bad for your brand. Hedge Funds and other very effective organizations will not even look at people who have been there. Perception is that people are not hands on and effective, but bureaucrats that know have to work the system.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Stifling and bureaucratic. Lack of integrity across the board, especially within the senior ranks. The firm outright lies to prospective employees about compensation and benefits.

Employee - Vice President

Culture is extremely prejudice (ageism, sexism, racism)

Employee - Vice President

culture is clouded with cliques, bad decision making without consequences

Employee - Associate

Misogynistic culture of the bank really needs changing.

Employee - Associate

A lot of angry men shouting at women is the culture

Employee - Senior Vice President

The Company is too big. The impersonal nature; the hierarchy; the manner in which the work assignments are made. The pay and bonus. Layoffs are their management plans to contain costs rather than making the company more profitable.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Don't expect to advance. Come in as high as you possibly can, because you will never get a raise or promotion. If you do get a promotion, it will only be more work, not more money. I am proud to have it on my resume, however, because other companies think if you can handle it there, you can handle the work anywhere.

Employee - Senior Vice President

The longer you are there, the more likely you will be laid off. It's also punitive with respect to mistakes. Otherwise, there is no culture.

Bank of America is getting out of Investment banking like they got our of Lease agreements, and Municipal bonds. They are downsizing Brokers,Investment Executives and setting up Central phone banks for for clients to call for investmenrt advice. Theri goal is to set up the firm like Fidelity Mutual funds with call centers. They are eliminating Foreign accounts,SEPS,IRAs. Bank of America is downsizing from any Investmenrt Banking

Employee - Senior Vice President

Culture is top management "ME FIRST " take all money and run.Earnings, bonuses, and stock options for top management built on cutting employees, support staff and firing investment bankers near retirement age. Merrill turned from investment banking to Institutional management and mutual fund.Their goal is to get rid of expenses, carry over losses for 3 years, get their bonuses, stock options and then get out.

I would suggest the company have a less chaotic chain of command, fair pay, better access to the tools/conditions necessary for succes and necessary to providing real customer service as opposed to a relentless focus on selling without truly caring about what is in the consumer's best interest.

Employee - Associate

It does seem to offer a presumed prestige which comes from the fact that apparently those who have never worked for this organization consider it to be elite and rewarding.

Employee - Associate

The culture is sell, sell, sell ... Whatever your concerns are, they are not valid, just sell, sell, sell and everything will be fine

Employee - Senior Vice President

This company is always in constant change. It is incredibly difficult to get anything accomplished because the direction of the company, the change in leadership and constant layoffs are a daily occurrence. I rarely felt like I accomplished anything and even though I was in the top 10% achievement wise and won multiple company awards, I never knew if I would have a job from day to day. 70-80 hour work weeks are the norm.
