Employee - Vice President
They tried to fire me 1 week short of qualifying for a pension and taking a month of disability due to knee replacement surgery. If it hadn't been for leadership from Lehman, I would have been far up a creek. They did this to every person I knew who was over fifty and not at the MD level.
Employee - Vice President
After Barclays acquired Lehman, it tried to insert it's culture on Lehman. Horrible matchup.
Employee - Associate
Women treated other women like second class citizens. I was asked to water plants for a SVP the 2nd day of my job there and was asked to get coffee for clients when I was hired to be a Research Associate.
Employee - Associate
Not at all. I quit as soon as I lined up a job at Citi Asset Management. Working at Barclays was once of the worst experiences of my career.
Employee - Associate
I was disgusted by the way senior women treated other women, unless they were coversing with a CEO, CIO, CTO, etc.
Employee - Vice President
Gender discrimination in assignment of roles is rampant and tolerated
Employee - Vice President
Morale was awful. People who bordered on incompetent were given leadership positions and proceeded to throw the excellent employees under the bus
Employee - Senior Vice President
Clarification and communication of business strategy; increased individual accountability; inclusivity and consensus building; improved fairness and transparency of internal opportunities (e.g., new roles, promotions, project leads, etc.).
Employee - Senior Vice President
Employee experience in the UK (company home base) seems to be much more positive than in other geographic locations. Company does offer comprehensive benefits package.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Organizational culture lacks trust; employees are afraid to speak up. Perceived lack of fairness and transparency into role/project assignments, promotions and compensation processes. Lack of equity across organization; i.e., certain title levels, geographies, roles, etc. seem to be favored over others. Lack of clarity into organizational vision, direction and strategy. Inadequate and ineffective communication across organization - top/down, bottom/up, peer-to-peer.
Employee - Vice President
If given the chance I would suggest equal pay
Employee - Vice President
The HQ is in London, working in New York is very frustrating.
Employee - Vice President
European mindset Approvals in triplicate High Bureaucracy
Employee - Senior Vice President
Management should change in the company
Employee - Senior Vice President
Culture is gloomy. Demotivated.
Employee - Vice President
Very bureaucratic, very London-centric, subject to the whims of UK public opinion, past CEOs had NO IB experience, and now the place is a wreck
Employee - Vice President
It's in a terrible state of flux. Will be years before it recovers.
Employee - Vice President
Culture was bureaucratic, decisions took forever, always behind the curve
Employee - Associate
Barclays investment banking has gone down hill since the LIBOR rigging
Employee - Associate
the company is not as good as it seems
