Booz USA is a great place to work, but their re-entry into the international market has been marred by poor leadership and bad decision making. THe middle east office is floundering only being pumped up by domestic units selling overseas

Their work is held in fairly high regard, especially in DC where Government (Fed & Defense) contracting is king. Most clients don't see how the sausage is made. They just experience the team turnover and wonder why.

Backstabbers in the big offices, young Associates and Consultants without permanent desks or offices, forced to "hotel." I know one female SVP in the Finance Division who went on medical leave after suffering a heart attack - and came back to discover that her bosses had given away her entire book of business. That speaks for itself.

Bozz Allen "eats its young." It is a burnout firm with very little compassion or support for anyone below a Principal. As a Senior Associate (at the time), my role was to manage $40Million in contracts with 38 direct reports! That's about 30 people too many for anyone to handle. While spending full days on client site (per the contract, I was "essential,") I also had to manage billing, staff hours, performance reviews, ongoing professional training, corporate meetings, client issues - and most days was so freaked out by 10pm I couldn't sleep anyway. We had a senior executive who thought the funniest joke on earth was the job of the Senior Associate. He said we were at the "bottom of the fun curve." Hysterical. I lasted 3 1/2 years and managed to bill more than 85% over that time at about $250 per hour. You can do the math. I nearly had a complete breakdown.

Ever changing. When leadership changes, so does the direction of the organization as well as what is important and how business is conducted.

Culture has changed over the year and has become more dog eat dog mentality and not the collaborative organization it previously was under old leadership.

People still think of Booz as an old government contractor and not as an innovative company

Its a good place for young people to start out and build their resume. However, the more senior you become, the more challenging it becomes to present new ideas and make change happen. There are people who have been there for 30 years and they are set in their own ways. Things happen because of political cloud and not because of talent. If someone doesn't like you and they are your senior, HR supports their narrative. In a lots of ways, its a toxic environment once you are at a senior consultant or principal level or higher.

Too old school. Reluctant to change. Too many egos. Operates like an old white mens club.
