I can only say about my time at Capgemini Australia and this may not be the case across other business units. Capgemini Australia is rife with internal politics and this is dragging the company down. For instance in the SAP service line, there have been so may hires in the positions of Senior Managers and Directors - just because they are known to the service line lead. Basically, there have been people that were hired on fat salary packages that don't know anything about their SLA's or their technology and roles. The recent spate of redundancies is a result of the favoritism played. There have been no projects and the company has become from a consulting firm to a body augmentation firm (mainly for a government client).

This is my subjective opinion, working as a Lead Consultant, with an MBA and previous Strategic/General Management experience. The company and its service lines and Clientele targeted offers limited Strategy or Operations Consulting experience. Capgemini is a good recruiter for Consultants with Industry-specific IT Implementation focus. The company offers good job stability, higher starting pay and full range of benefits. Downsides include low Year-on-year Pay Growth, No carryover of vacation days, lack of Mentorship and Leadership outside of the Sales function.

Leadership team needs true Leaders, not just Managers who are trying to measure each Associates growth and contribution in numbers. The Volume of deals made matters, but there should be a vision to rise up the value-chain among existing Client accounts.

Only the starting salaries are competitive. There is lack of Year-on-year growth (above inflation). Cannot compare with other consulting firms, but Bonuses here are delayed (Mar 1) comparing with 5 other employers I have worked with.

The senior leadership only cares about the bottom line. They have no intention on making sure their employees get the training they need or want. They do not accept opinions from their employees.

Project bonuses are only given out at a minimum 10 months after the project cocludes. The annual bonuses are given out depending on your annual rating and the payouts are minimal.
