Employee - Senior Vice President
Needs better cultural mix of management and employees. Very strong preference for Chinese employees, which means non-Chinese leave. This would not be a problem if they were not seeking to gain a share of the U.S. market. Local management needs to have more discretion to make decisions - everything needs to wait for decisions to be made back in China head office. People are nice but really not motivated to stretch themselves and do more than is required.

If non-Chinese they are looking to learn from you, then duplicate what they have learned. Compensation is very low - not competitive, but good experience to learn how a Chinese financial institution works with regard future opportunities. There is a rigid hierarchy based upon where people have been in Chinese head office - this is not a reflection of what they know but rather who they know..

Very few non-Chinese working here which is why it is a very strong Chinese culture in place. If you are away from the office it is not considered working, even if you are meeting with clients. Face time is very important here. Important to always praise the General Manager.
