Employee - Senior Vice President
Better blend of investment banking and commercial banking roles
Employee - Senior Vice President
You have to be interested in traveling and working for a global company with global clients.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Inertia due to size of company with many employees from other firms, so no set culture.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Good culture overall but some incompetence rises to senior levels - the bank needs to get better at taking to task senior managers who make consistently bad decisions.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Citi is a good employer but not a great place to work and most people I know who have worked there stayed only 2-3 years. Most of the really senior people had been there for 15+ years which is part of the problem. Many of them don't know what they are doing and create issues in the areas they are responsible for. When more senior managers come in to clean up the mess, those who made the mess are shuffled off to another business unit but the business they wrecked is dismantled, sold off, etc. and all the staff who worked in it are either layed off or shifted to the purchasing company. Citi has to find a way to better manage its businesses and get rid of poor decision makers at the top.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Mid-level managers and junior staff were great - smart, dedicated, knew what they were doing. Senior managers had no idea how to run the business, what it took to deliver the services, how to prices the services at a profit, etc.
Employee - Managing Director
I would suggest that performance bonuses not be weighted so heavily on quarterly results but rather on long term results.
Employee - Managing Director
It was a great work experience, I formed personal relationships that are still active, and I learned so much.
Employee - Managing Director
The drive for results is the most important thing
Employee - Senior Vice President
It is a competitive environment and I don't think that will ever change. It drives that business and performance. I would add more "group/team" performance incentives to help squelch some of the cut-throat attitudes.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Lovingly cut throat ... it's kind of like working for your step father who may have to whack you if you misbehave.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Needs to remove the massive amount of red tape
Employee - Senior Vice President
You should know how to navigate the political landmines and deal with some insane management (and their decisions).
Employee - Senior Vice President
Cutthroat culture - like living the real life version of Game of Thrones
Employee - Managing Director
Greater focus on planning versus reacting. Every day brought a new crisis with most being non critical if planned for.
Employee - Managing Director
You have to achieve results. No slacking off
Employee - Managing Director
Best interests of company and client in mind
Employee - Vice President
Its global scale and reach, plus having Citi on your resume.
Employee - Vice President
Company culture encourages self initiative, team work, respect and a challenging work environment.
Employee - Senior Vice President
Management Hierarchy needs to be improved
