Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant
It was not a good place to work in but it was a very good place to make real friends.

Top leadership is rotten.
Employee - Principal/VP/Director
There is a lack of respect from senior leadership throughout the organisation.

EY's reputation is getting worse within the UAE - don't care about the employees.

There is no meritocracy.
Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant
Meritocracy is not a value here.

No work/life balance.

Driven purely by the bottom line. Not much concern for employees.

Pay scale is typical of other Big 4's.

Diverse culture
Employee - Manager
EY is one of the Big 4 so it has a reputation similar to that of Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG.
Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant
Sparse projects, long hours, lot of travel, not a fun work culture
Employee - Manager
Little concern for employees' wellbeing resulting in them being overworked and stressed
Employee - Manager
Invisible. The senior leadership team is not known to general employees and they communicate only via emails drafted by their communications teams

Bonuses are paid only to exceptionally high performers and are then only 5% of remuneration package - which is not commensurate with effort. Base salaries are kept low and standard increases have not met inflation for a number of years. New joiners inevitably earn much more than those who have been with the firm for years.

EY has had flexible hours for many years which is now entrenched in the way people work (generally). Other perks are available via medical aid scheme (gym membership), or are available provided cost is borne by employee (child care).
Employee - Manager
Culture of long hours, high pressure to achieve/charge hours, and strong leadership control. Not a lot of trust.

High achieving, fast growing firm that is striving to raise its game.

Major cultural changes took place since my time with the firm. Whereas it used to be an excellent place to work, recent "alumni" events resulted in three groups of people: those who worked at the firm around the same time as I, those who work at the firm, and those looking for a job. The real turn-off was the level of what could only be described as arrogance by the group of current employees. Multiple former employees left the "alumni" event since we were made to feel inferior vs. the current employees... even though many of us are in executive-level roles, some at Fortune 100 companies. I would not wish for a friend to experience what I and many of my peers experienced at that "alumni" event.

Following up on my answer of recent experience... arrogance. Questions like this one are very difficult for me to answer since I no longer work at the firm. When I was there the firm had a very collaborative culture, exciting and rewarding working environment, approachable partners, etc. My recent experience at the "alumni" event was very disappointing, but that is all I could go by.
