Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

I worked at Genzyme from 1994 - 2001 during a huge growth period. The company was led ably by the CEO Henri Termeer and invested heavily in its culture and staff - training, personal growth, education etc. The ESOP and ESPP plans provided additional income for those who took them up and became very profitable. I remain close friends with a number of my colleagues to this day.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Be a self starter and work hard as star performers are rewarded well.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

I worked there in the early 90s, so I don't have any recent information. At the time, it was run very well. Henri Termeer was a great CEO and kept the company diversified enough to withstand the ups and downs of the market. The different groups were setup very well. We all worked well both separately and in teams. There was great communication and not much repetitive efforts that you see in many large companies.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

I found the level of rare disease passion and advocacy, the engaged and brilliant scientists and clinicians, a joy to work with. I also had the chance to work with Henri Termeer, an icon of the biotech world. That said, I work for Genzyme on Commercial Development for Fabry and Pompe back in the mid- 1990's.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Genzyme has a unique culture of community bound together for a greater cause of meeting unmet medical needs. I loved my time there because of the cause and my teammates. People genuinely cared about solving issues for patients, and I made lasting friendships. I even met my wife at the company.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Genzyme is the greatest place I've worked in my 19 years of Biotech/Pharma. The culture and people make it fantastic, and the greater cause is something that keeps you motivated.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Opportunity - my career took off at Genzyme, whereby I was given multiple chances to grow both in my career and as a leader. I was given a multi-year ex-patriot assignment to help develop Asia, completely unheard of elsewhere. This was possible because leadership believed in giving me a chance to make this happen, and take the risk. To this day, I attribute this investment by Genzyme as my greatest career boost.

Best benefits package and a great place to work.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

During the time I worked there there was a very open environment where we could express our opinions freely. Cristivity was welcome.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Genzyme gave me the best job oportunity of my life. I am thankful and honored to have this company name in my resume.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

Lack of leadership- only focus on money not its people. Worked in HR horrible department- broken not engaged in true issues- only want to look good

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

Would not recommend working here because they just need temp employees witn no benefits

Employee - Director

Very retaliatory atmosphere. Senior management has no care for subordinates, just want to get product out the door at all costs. Atmosphere of infidelity among senior management that is encouraged. Last CEO had an affair with a direct report and she had to leave the company. Despite people speaking up about non-compliance issues, company went into consent decree and terminated those who tried to speak up. Quality department known for lack of engagement, nepotism, hiring only those who agreed witht he top managment and ignored all of the problems.

Employee - Director

Borderline unethical behavior by senior mgt, incompetent employees, rude and boorish behavior, most don't have a clue about working a highly regulated environment.
