Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Established firm nationwide with fair pay.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Top management disconnect with those below them. They seem mainly interested in plugging a position with little regard to whether the position title really means anything.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
They have a good reputation. They seem to always have good projects to work on. I never had a problem with the senior management while I was working there.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
I'm not aware of any defined culture at HNTB.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
They always seem to have high profile projects. The projects that I worked on helped me to advance to where I am today. When I list projects that I worked on, everyone seems to be familiar with these projects.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
It's a company with a serious identity crisis. An ESOP that was formerly a partner-led firm with several old partners still around running it like a firm with the goal of enriching the executive team (former partners). Overall lack of sophistication in everything non civil engineering in nature, i.e. Finance, HR, Strategy, etc.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Revolving door at the junior executive levels and down. Body shop mentality. Cost plus mentality leads to waste and lack of sophistication in finance leads to swings in revenue and profitability.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Poor upper management. Too many chiefs, not enough indians. Poor selection of VP's, selecting people of questionable character. Focus on Mega-Projects-Only leaves smaller projects (and disciplines) in the dust. Poor training and continuing education. Blatant violations of the simplest HR policies, such as paying for overtime. Age discrimination. Etc.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
The company has cut staff (but rarely cut management), stresses mega-projects only, does not share resources between regions, has burdensome reporting requirements, etc.
Employee - Assistant / Coordinator
I was let go after 2 years of employment and very positive annual assessments after starting to report to a new manager rather abruptly (after 2-3 months and one major project). I felt my termination was based more on personal dislike than my performance. The atmosphere was not very friendly towards working mother's and the team dynamic was very uncomfortable.
Employee - Director
Too much indecision in upper management. Too many political motivaters in senior management. Many good people, but a few that more concerned about their career advancement than doing what is right for company and their co-workers.
