IBM has a mediocre compensation structure; somewhat bureaucratic -- although much of this is unavoidable given size of company and regulatory requirements.

Employee - Principal / Managing Director / General Manager
They used to be a company that retooled from within. Lately they are laying off older employees and hiring offshore and young employees for the same jobs. They are trying to cut costs but they are losing expertise and it's become a problem. Enough expertise has walked out the door... it is just NOT a good atmosphere any longer. They no longer pay for training or furthering your education and raises are nonexistent.

It's best to be young here. Get in, get all the IBM certifications you can... remain on the technical track and change positions often.

Employee - CXO (CTO, CMO, COO, CFO, etc.)
Very inclusive work culture.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
There is too much bureacracy at IBM.
