International Development Consulting Firms are not outcome and results driven the way that consulting firms working for private clients are. They are driven by governments and international organizations, with no professional standards, ethics, or legality, to serve political purposes and for public relations.

Generally, the higher the pay the more corruption the work covers up, requiring using one's reputation to cover up government wrongdoing or participating directly in the corruption, but this is not always the case. Many "charitable" organizations that serve the international development agenda drive down salaries in the claim that the work is of some moral benefit, which it is not, in a way that drives salaries down to 10% or 20% of what they would be in the private sector.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

They are driven entirely by government funds with no ethics and the managerial staff generally has only two schools and often no more than a B.A.: maintaining relations with corrupt government officials and English and/or local language skills.
