Employee - Vice President
Wish there is a more defined compensation range at each level of seniority versus the decision of the head of Corporate Finance.
Employee - Vice President
Drexel Burnham influence and culture is still strong 25 years later.
Employee - Vice President
The company culture is more laid back than Salomon Brothers, where I had worked before Jefferies. Investment Bankers like to have a good time. Not as much BS such as "face time" as at Salomon,

Needs more incentives for analysts to stay onboard and become associates.

At the younger level it is important to build connections and relationships with the older and more senior bankers so that you can find someone to look up to as a mentor. Because there is a high turnover rate, it is always best to find a mentor in the very senior bankers who don't move around as often.
Employee - Analyst
Very collaborative. Smaller deal teams allow for senior bankers to really mentor younger bankers and teach them.

Management structure change needed. Far too much control from areas that dont concern them. Lack of forward thinking to embrace new tech
Employee
You will get your hands dirty and do good work but they are slow to embrace new technologies (if at all)
Employee
Culture is ok. Its progressive and things get done and also not stuck in the 80s so not old school
Employee - Managing Director
Ethics are not present.
Employee - Managing Director
If you are narcissistic and conniving and willing to abandon integrity, you will do well here.
Employee - Managing Director
totally focused on revenue AT ANY Cost. Regulations be damned
Employee - Vice President
More structure and follow through from management. They clearly have lofty goals in terms of growing the firm and talk a big game, but they need to follow through and show real commitment to the process, rather than do what's most expedient.
Employee - Vice President
You need to be extremely self-reliant above all else. If you're confident you can come in, plug your existing business/strategy into their platform and hit the ground running, there's a decent chance you'll be successful there. If you're looking for a place that has clearly defined methodology for its business practices and an overall environment of support, Jefferies is going to be a big disappointment. Remember, this was originally a boutique equities shop that was taken over and is still run by a junk bond trader. Be prepared to come in and carve out your own niche from Day 1.
Employee - Vice President
Again, they talk a big game about company "culture", but in the end it's more hit or miss. Due to their recent hiring practices, Jefferies is not the first place most mid to senior level people have worked, so they tend to bring various attributes from their previous firms. The result tends to be a bit of a mish-mash of other banks, meaning a little of CS, a little of Deutsche, a little of Morgan Stanley etc.

Suggest a change in the culture
Employee - Managing Director
Culture at Jefferies & Company is individualistic, short-termist
