Employee - Vice President
This company has a great reputation and holds employees to a high standard. The company is filled with extremely dynamic, intelligent, competitive employees. It was rewarding to work there but my time there also came with challenges.
Employee - Vice President
Throughout most of the company, the culture was collaborative and supportive. However, that was not the case In my direct organization.

Even as a college hire the mentorship was close to 0.
Employee - Associate
Culture was collaborative, team oriented.
Employee - Vice President
The hiring process and culture that looks to discount the value of employees through the annual review process which uses a forced ranking. Women and especially women of color are constantly looked over for promotions and advancement opportunities at a company that has all the bells and whistles to support diversity such as employee networking or resource groups, diversity leaders and compensation for employees who participate and lead inclusive activities. Senior management is top heavy with people who do not necessarily understand how their contributions fit into the larger scheme and HR is overpopulated and ineffective for some businesses but lean for others.
Employee - Vice President
Each division has it's own sub-culture. It's best to get a position and then move from there. Even if it's not your ideal position. It's so big that you are only going to grow as much as your job description so it's up to you to take control of your career there and network and find sponsors or a board of directors to help you move forward.
Employee - Vice President
You must network and find a sponsor if you want to see your career move forward both financially and through development. The culture varies by division but the company is so big you can easily move between divisions if you want. The annual review process is ineffective but you must participate and play the game. There is not much support if you do not carry favor with the MD or most influential leaders for the business group you are in.

Smart people succeed working at JPMorgan.

Needs access to cross-functional managers and decision-makers
Employee - Vice President
Important to identify and foster a relationship with a mentor in order to help you navigate and ensure advancement opportunities.
Employee - Vice President
The culture is highly silo based with clear, direct reporting lines. Across silos, employment opportunities are highly inclusive. I found a key differentiating factor to be the Executive Training Program where the top levels of JPMC leadership lead classes and webinars over a one year period to explain, teach and reinforce JPMC's culture to advancing members of management across all business lines.
Employee - Analyst
The ranking process is a bit political but I don't see any other institutions which do a better job of it. The process at times seems a bit subjective and opaque.
Employee - Analyst
They are very focused on pedigree, so it can be very tough to break into if you're coming from a non-target school.
