The only culture that is acceptable is the NYC culture. Any other site culture is unacceptable to management.

The direction the Investment Bank is headed is not Staff friendly, rather as the saying goes "Churn em and Burn em" seems to be the new mantra. They are depleting experienced staff members in an effort to cut cost, while at the same time earning record profits. It appears that they are following Citigroups 1990-2010 business model.

The mentality you must have is a short term get in and move on within 2-3 years. Long term employment is no longer the culture. Rather, you must be a plug and play staff member while reaching out quickly for the Gold and then seek employment at another firm.

The culture was more of a family oriented structure until roughly 11 years ago. After the senior level management changed it became more of a "dog eat dog eat" culture.
Employee - Managing Director
Too political. Management more interested in empire building than growing the business as a firm.
Employee - Managing Director
This company is not trustworthy
Employee - Vice President
No advancement , pay not great, no work life balance
Employee - Vice President
"Just get those numbers," kind of culture.
Employee - Vice President
They do not like older employees
Employee - Vice President
Good company but do not make waves
Employee - Vice President
A change in upper management as they do not care about their client base. They only want fee income from clients but find ways to not lend then funds even when they deserve it and their financials support it.
Employee - Vice President
DO NOT Work for this company ever. They are a bunch of hypocrites, thieves that pay fines to avoid prosecution and employees have killed themselves overseas. London Whale, rate fixing, etc.
Employee - Vice President
Culture is great if you are the manager and you set your own rules. But employees have to follow a different, . more stringent culture.
Employee - Vice President
It is a very large organization, you are treated like a number and not a person.
Employee - Vice President
Sadly, the most important thing working at this company is that you are a number.
Employee - Vice President
Very bureaucratic work culture
Employee - Vice President
Too much outsourcing to Mumbai India and Philippines had to layoff and fire too many employees last 5 years. Laid off myself after more than a decade of service. Benefits changed. No more value shares, less pension than before, employee moral changed than before. After layoff or fire more work for others to take up and will not hire so will outsource more and more work overseas.
Employee - Vice President
They do provide a strong brand and is well known world wide. They are client focused and strongly stress client satisfaction and technology improvement all the time. Throughout my tenure had to learn new systems all the time and process improvements to excel.
Employee - Vice President
Working here was good 14 years ago but not now. Too much changes for the worst.
Employee - Vice President
No integrity and poor culture for collaboration and honesty.
