Has out-dated management practices inherited from GE (who had already abandoned the practices). Extreme age prejudice in evaluations for any position.

You will not be fairly assessed for you accomplishments nor your experience and education.

Culture is tilted more towards risk aversion than innovation and that needs to change for us to survive beyond the next ten years.

Be prepared to work hard and be thoughtful about what you're doing and you'll do well.

Internal positions are highly competitive with preference given to graduates of the company's leadership development program. This unfortunately leaves a rather large segment of the company workforce feeling like they are perpetually on the outside looking in with very minimal clear opportunities for career growth. Ultimately, this was the primary reason for my decision to leave.

The culture derives its strength from a belief in the products and services provided to the US government. There is pride in the work done. However, it can be a very cutthroat culture as well.

If you're working on proposals be prepared to work long and haphazard hours. You will also need to find and latch onto a strong manager/mentor who will shield you from the never ending politics of the place.

Decent market reputation.

It was a very cyclical business. While it may just be the nature of DOD contracts, there is still a lot that could be done to normalize the work load or leverage the talent in place to make similar products.

Strong disconnect between union labor and professional team. I spent a majority of my time working with the team members to improve the processes and make their job easier, I had a very good working relationship but was still scrutinized when I would move a tiny bag of electrical connectors because it was taking up "union work". The result of that disconnect meant there were enormous inefficiencies in the process and if anything broke, everyone might as well go home because it wasn't going to be fixed today.

Lockheed is a company that I am proud to have worked for. Lockheed had aquired a company from Martin Marietta which had bought a small company named Perry Submarines. The culture was lacking professionalism. The site, at that time had an abundance of original employees with loyalty to Perry

As stated before, the LM site was in flux. There was sexual harassment but not from the LM management only from the management that they aquired.
