Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
HR is too powerful at LM. Decisions and policies are not uniformly applied. Leads to morale and emoyee confidence issues.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
It was a highly bureaucratic and rigid work environment. Changes lag industry and slow to implement effectively.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Products support military customers and lead to a high sense of pride in supporting the men and women of our armed forces.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Would encourage decision makers to accept new technical ideas and processes more readily.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
The company allowed flexible time, a 9/80 schedule, and had a nice work environment.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
People are passionate about what they produce and proud of their results.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
I'd recommend working at LM if you are an employee - yes, if you are a contractor - no. Contractors are cash streams and not people.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
As a contractor I never felt part of the company but the company does try to provide for all employees and contarctors.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
I would advise any new hire of the volatility of government contracts. No job is immune from layoff.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
Very Corporate work culture. Nobody would openly say anything negative about it.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
You have to understand you are working with extremely smart people (real rocket scientists). If you are in an HR type role be prepared with all answers and be able to back it up. Know your stuff.

During the time I worked at Lockheed (1988-2001), great strides were made to eliminate sexual harassment and improve opportunities to promote women in the workforce. However, men were primarily management at that time.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
The overall company culture was respectful to the employee, offered an open door policy with management, made available promotion opportunities to those qualified regardless of gender, and provided valuable benefits and flex schedules to improve a low morale period. Of course, Lockheed was focused on profit. However, the company realized that loyal, productive employees contribute to that process.
Employee - Analyst / Associate
You could work for this company and change jobs within the company every 2 years. Really no lack of opportunity for growth, if you a willing to make the effort.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Would suggest no changes here. I really thought it was well managed
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
I'd suggest a greater integration of the multiple business units. Particularly in the area of information sharing and use of common services.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
There was a collaborative work atmosphere.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Wide range of projects allowing opportunities for work when projects end.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Culture was focused on technology and engineering. Inventing stuff that could not be done elsewhere - new airplanes, satellites, software, etc.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
It is very bureaucratic like the government.
