Stay on contract, that way your role is well defined by the contract. Know that at the end of the contract it will be up to you to fine another position. Internal support for moving around within the company is sadly lacking.

As ManTech grew in order to compete with the bigger defense contractors, they moved away from being a best value contractor to be a lowest cost technically acceptable contractor. So instead of trying to develop and maintain really superior talent, they tried to crank out numbers to put butts in seats.
