Employee - Associate

Local leadership is very good, but their hands are tied sometimes by senior management in New York. Pay is low and es. I've stayed around because I respect my manager.

Employee - Associate

Pay is low compared to competitors.

Employee

Has good, smart people.

Employee

They continue to be a marquee company. I don't see that ending any time soon.

Employee

My department was rather small, and they did not seem to interact with the rest of the company. Perhaps the MDs wanted autonomy, but shortly after the summer ended, they all departed for other firms.

Employee - Managing Director

Demands a high amount of personal time that affects work / life balance. Can be very rewarding for committed individual that do not mind the grind.

Employee - Managing Director

Like most big banks the culture varies. Generally quite political with high demand on individuals. Often career success is based on relations rather than skill and merit.

Employee - Vice President

Increase transparency to analysts and associates on the deal origination process.

Employee - Vice President

If you can't handle the work, get out of the investment bank. Hours and expectations are grueling (but within reason for an IB) and not meant for some people.

Employee - Vice President

Very focused culture on getting the deal completed. Within a team, Directors and MDs foster a culture of communication to ensure that no one individual is overwhelmed, relative to IB standards.

Employee - Associate

The information systems are old. The financial advisor training program is brutal.

Employee - Associate

At this company, numbers are first, always.

Employee - Associate

My office on State street had diversity in terms of cultures, countries of origin, sexual orientation, and that was great. It's a bit of a cut throat business in financial advisor training though...older FA know that most greener FA won't last and they are out to suck the life out of them (baiting clients and then keeping them for themselves)

Employee - Vice President

I wish there was more continuity between areas. Many groups a person would work with regularly may be located in another building.

Employee - Vice President

Very professional environment

Employee - Associate

I suggest a change by putting more effort to mid net worth clients vs. Ultra high net worth. Management liked monthly influx of 250k accounts vs. Semi annual of 2mm to 4mm accounts.

Employee - Associate

Company has inspirational sr. Mgmnt, average mid mgmnt.

Employee - Associate

In recent years, they have laid off many people who had worked there for over 10 years.

Employee - Associate

There is an opportunity to improve your skills and grow while working here.

Employee - Associate

In general, people were very respectful. They had one of the best HR departments around, one that listed to employees concerns and tried to help as much as they could within their constraint.
