Employee - Vice President
I would ty to instill a more collegial atmosphere. Segments of the firm have this as part of their culture but at the time I was there it felt like the majority of the firm subscribed to an 'I win you lose' proposition.
Employee - Vice President
I think the firm has lost a bit of its integrity since the financial crisis. Certainly there has been a re-thinking of the entire business in an attempt to become more relevant in the modern marketplace. The bank plays a role in the business world but I think its image is cloudy and unclear to the general public.
Employee - Vice President
General culture is about the individual, not the firm.

Would change redundancy. We need fewer people. Resolved by keeping/hiring those with motivation, social skills, and an intellect to navigate to the answer. The herds, the masses, the hiring of incapable people to make yourself look good, are a thing of the pass. There is no tolerance for this juvenile thought process.

Former Employee
Focus more on performance and how to further grow and develop the business. The culture is excellent, however certain divisions have not found the right balance to improve both profitability and performance, especially given the difficult conditions in the fixed-income market.

The employees, culture and collaboration are the key factors in working at Morgan Stanley. The colleagues constantly challenge you and collaborate in a meaningful manner as to bring out the best financial solution for the client and ensure his financial success. The people at Morgan Stanley are very bright, knowledgeable and humble and it is crucial reason why I enjoyed being part of the bank and working together with them toward the final goal at the bank - first-class business in a first-class way.
