Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

The company has strong aspirations to thrive in a fast-paced, fast-changing tech environment. It wishes to operate more like a nimble startup and to expand beyond hardware into software and services. In order to be successful, it needs to shed its hierarchical Korean management style and empower younger employees.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

Your satisfaction and success at this company are highly dependent on the role and the group you find yourself in. If you carefully vet these, you can have a great experience. If not, it can be miserable. Also, non-Koreans will find it challenging to build a long-term management career here. However if you set your expectations on a shorter stint and focus on immediate professional goals, you can make the experience pay out.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

Hierarchical culture. There are pockets of the company that are incredibly empowering and provide amble motivation. But the mainstream population suffers from a top-down management style

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Company needs to value long-term thinking and provide meaningful opportunity for employees.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

The big brand will almost always get you a meeting with someone, but you will be driven nuts by the constant reporting and A.D.H.D. nature of management. There is a glass ceiling for non-Koreans and all impactful decisions are made by Korean management -- your input may or may not be valued but you never have the final say.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

I'd describe the culture similar to how you feel in a crisis, constant crisis. Focus on executing the million things in front of your face rather than asking why and planning for the future. Hide information from other groups because they could use that information to take credit for your work. Focus on internal politics before customers.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

All promotions were based on politics, not the ability of the individual and too many people were over looked due to this.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

No life work balance. All work balance no time for a life.

Employee - Director

If able to change something here, I'd let the subsidiary run its business instead of being dictated by HQ.

Employee - Director

It's a revolving door every 2-3yrs for American executives because the culture is too difficult to endure and you're not given any real power to make influential changes. All real decisions are made by Korean HQ and dispatchers.

Employee - Director

Korean patriarchal company culture. Depending on what division you work in, there might be a little more "perceived" freedom and receptiveness to your input and intelligence.

Employee - Director

Changes needed in hiring practices, creation professional development, evaluation & promotion practices, and company culture.

Employee - Director

Be prepared while working here there is little to no time to rest on laurels. It's fast-paced, grueling.

Employee - Director

Culture is very fast-paced and often punitive for not meeting goals that are often poorly thought out.

Employee - Director

Samsung is a company that is fully driven from Korea, thus limiting local market innovation

Employee - Director

Korea HQ driven company, with top-down management structure.

Employee - Director

Is a company that is fast paced with revolving door of executive management. Attempts to bring teams together to build stronger unity do not go very far since the groups and responsibilities change every few months. Lots of temporary workers rotate through the building

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

If I was able to change anything, I'd suggest a change in the strong demands to put in overtime.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

It is located in South Korea, so you need to understand their cultures.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

You'll have to chance to learn many things if you try. You can develop and suggest your idea if it is effecient.
