Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Slower pace but very dynamic and fun.

Company will test your loyalty by pushing you to move upward and at the same time reduce your support staff. The 'hero' is rewarded if they show sacrifice of personal life and 'spouts' the company mantra even though they do not live it.

Great training for CPG brand management
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
Within Brand Management, everyone is very ambitious. There are clear benchmarks that, if you don't reach them, you're labeled as unsuccessful.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The company is known for its brand management skills.

Clorox provided an excellent training ground as my first job after business school. The assignments were challenging, the people bright, and the culture welcoming.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
If you don't want to work too hard and don't mind being in an organization, in which white men or men get the overwhelming number of promotions, the Clorox is a good place to be.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
White males dominate leadership/promotions. Leadership make promises and then violate them. By speaking up, you can have your bonus eliminated.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
They value people who don't question anything, whether they are productive or not. Also, White males and males in general in the director and above ranks.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
I would recommend this to someone who is entering the beginning portion of their career as it is perfect for learning the basics.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
Very professional work environment. Collaborative work environment. Great place to learn.
Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant
I was 25 to 26 years old when I worked at The Clorox Company as a Senior Financial Analyst. I worked along side colleagues and mentored by senior managers.

If you're starting your professional career, this is a great place learn and grow. If you're working in Brand Management, Finance Department or Corporate they'll groom you for career success and doing business the The Clorox Company way. In my executive career today, I still use the financial and analytical tools that I learned at Clorox.

Clorox like many CPG companies are up and out systems. If you are in marketing only 5% or less remain to reach a senior level position because of the pyramid system. Most people are there because they want to have a CPG company on their resume for their next job. I partially liked the education they continue to give you after business school, but at the same time, they act like what they teach you is rocket science and if you have any marketing experience at prior company you realize that they are full of themselves. Their practices are no different than any other company, but they like the outside world to think differently. Most people left Clorox for the tech sector and I would think now that the pay at Clorox to live in the Bay Area would be quite difficult. My suggestion is pass Clorox altogether and go straight to a tech company. The skills you gain will not be that great for the pay you receive.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
The company has a liberal culture being in the Bay Area and Oakland in particular. However, from a think out side the box type culture they are very by the book. From a marketing perspective they are more inline with bean counters than really original marketers. While I was there they were barely doing any Internet marketing and still doing print. I am sure things have changed as online was growing, but it is a conservative marketing culture of doing what is proven to work.
Employee - Manager / Senior Manager
CPG experience does have a certain amount of cliche within marketing. I don't really understand why because it is pretty basic marketing, but because it is regimented, I think future employers feel it is less risky to hire someone with CPG experience than without. For a 2-4 year time frame, it may be a benefit on your resume. If you know another company you'd rather work for you might get a better head start just going to that company in the first place.
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Very political. New group in there now so culture could be different
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
Political, lacking communication at all levels
Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)
There is now a completely different executive staff. The culture could be extremely different.
