Management culture focused on managing up needs to change. Not so much on managing down.

Brilliant, highly motivated people. A very energizing place to work in the areas of cutting edge science. Management was very self absorbed, focused on managing up, and spent every little time managing down - tended to manage for the short term.

You will get exposure to their growing, international business. I had the opportunity to be in strategic planning, product management, operations and general management.

Overall, employees convey a professional and courteous corporate culture. There is little office politics and gossip that I have experienced in other work places. Promotion is generally fair and follows a system.

Thermo Fisher is a large, well known company that sells good products and is a market leader. Internally they have a strong management system and treat their employees with respect for the most part. They also use resources to foster career development. I was proud to work there.

I would change the expectation if you are successful at a business that you should move to another entity for changes sake. This detracts from management and the organization's continuity. If you do not change, I think your opportunity for new challenges is limited.

It was a culture driven to achieve continued success with the expectation of continuous improvement. Had profit sharing for non executives, employee activity committees, etc

The opportunities for advancement domestically and globally are limitless if you perform. The annual objectives for every employee all the way down to associates all correlate with division goals and a fairly strong performance appraisal system exists. The appraisals tie to annual compensation merit increases and the merit increases can fluctuate substantially, positively or negatively, for an individual depending on performance.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is certainly the only company to provide all products and services dedicated to laboratory applications. The company is really well know and is covering all countries and regions.
