Employee - CXO (CMO, COO, CFO, etc.)

It can be a good and rewarding place to work, but you must be prepared to function in a hyper-competitive environment where you are forced to compete with your peers for everything, including the ability to retain personnel in times of layoffs.

Employee - CXO (CMO, COO, CFO, etc.)

Paranoid, competitive in a bad way, back stabbing.

Employee - CXO (CMO, COO, CFO, etc.)

The company has a general inability to sustain a long-term strategy at the corporate level, which leads to a lack of loyalty toward fellow employees both up and down the management hierarchy.

Employee - Director

Over the years the innovative spirit has been replaced with more of the corporation ideas.

Employee - Director

It was better years ago and has declined in the past few years.

Employee - Director

Corporate and competitive work culture.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

When I was there as Sales Reps we kept to ourselves. The competiion to land local business clients was awkward.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

Time Warner is an excellent place to work. I spent 1.5 years as a VP in the Warner Bros Home Entertainment unit. It was one of the most challenging and exciting stops along my career journey. I had direct contact with the President of the unit as well as directly reporting into a SVP. I found the the people, the work environment, and the senior management staff to be all best-in-class. Although it was a wide reaching matrix organization, I found the the long hours and pressure exhilarating, my co-workers to be extremely professional, and human resources to be very responsive. The benefits were AMAZING, the pay was great, and the office environment was collaborative and cool. I would recommend Warner Bros to anybody looking for a world class workplace.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

There was a tremendous value placed on a collaborative work environment. While there was a clearly defined corporate structure, I always felt that I was heard, respected, and appreciated as a member of the team.

Employee - Vice President (VP, SVP, EVP, etc.)

It has benefited me tremendously to have Time Warner on my CV.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

I think it was a great early on but there were a lot of struggles to keep people employed in the later years which created an environment of pending doom or layoffs.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Great company to work for.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

In 1995 - 2000, great place to work.

Employee - Manager / Senior Manager

Check the culture as it may have changed since 2000.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

I am divided because the early years were good at Time Warner but there was a lot of restructuring and layoffs so it was not a positive place to work.

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

They are a sclerotic company, doing things slowly and the way "it's always been done."

Employee - Analyst / Associate / Consultant

Although diversity is publicly stated, and exists for Latinos (if I recall correctly), the employees made anti-gay jokes without fear.

Employee - Director

During my almost 10 years combined time at 2 Time Warner companies, particularly at Turner Broadcasting, I became aware that it's a rare thing to work in a culture where most colleagues consistently bring their "A" game, management recognizes and well compensates top performers, and in-house personal/professional development programs are free and available to all employees, for example. Of course, there were challenges but all in all, it was and hopefully has remained a place where talent retention is important.

Employee - Director

I always thought the only way to explain this was highly skilled Human Resources professionals, but it was such a great experience to work where just about everyone was really smart, committed to being a great contributor, unafraid to collaborate for a shared win but eager and competent to lead when opportunities arose. The pitfall is that expectations were so high and consistently met, that it became a challenge, in a way, to stand out unless you were fortunate to become part of a special project that had a spotlight on it. The upside was that because of the breadth of TW products and services offered both domestically and internationally, those types of projects were not unusual.

Employee - Director

There have been changes in management, changes in morale flowing layoffs and in company policies over the years as with every major company. My experience working with the Tuner, CNN and other Atlanta based business units was one of the best of my career so far, but I'd caution anyone considering a position there to reach out to their network to find out as much as they can about management, policies and the culture of the particular department they would be joining.
