Management sucks and the pay is low. They sell benefits and features but you cannot pay anything with it.

The culture within IT at USAA is horrific. If you are not a white Republican you will be miserable. Minorities are treated as second class citizens and non-openly Christian Republicans live in fear of being 'found out'. Extremist nonsense of the religious and political kind brook no balancing opinions whatsoever. The environment is one of fear of management and constant bullying and harassment of those singled out for this treatment. Even HR is afraid to back colleagues that receive this treatment. Meanwhile, managers with multiple complaints against them have nothing to fear.

On surface this is an excellent company to work with considering the salary and benefit package offered. However the day to day operation within the Mortage department appears to stagnant at best with minimum opportunity to move up and across other lines of business.

My experenice was sub par where it appeared to be " A Good Old Boy Network " where if you asked for help and assistance you where isolated and left to figure things out on your own.
